New kid standing at the door, Not sure where to go. Hand goes up... then comes back down, Voice is soft and low.

"Is this seat taken? ...Never mind." A shrug, a hidden grin. Unsure if the answer's right, Unsure to begin.

DIFFIDENT! DIF-uh-dent! Means not so sure today. Diffident, a little shy, Still finding what to say.

But someone scoots and pats the chair, "Hey, sit by me, that's cool." A tiny nod, a steadier breath, The new kid joins the school.

Diffident's not stuck forever, It's just a quiet start. A little doubt today can grow into a big and braver heart.

DIFFIDENT! DIF-uh-dent! Not so sure today... Diffident, a little shy — but braver than yesterday.
