Bonko has squeezed into his rainbow shoes a thousand times, He has twisted a thousand balloon dogs, sung a thousand corny rhymes. He used to gasp with wonder at the giggles and the cheer, Now he honks his nose on habit, one more party, one more year. The confetti cannon fires, the children scream with glee, Bonko forces up a grin, though his heart feels far and free. He counts the minutes till it's over, glancing at his watch, Another cake, another candle, blurring in a blotch.

JADED! Tired out from doing it too much, The sparkle fades a little when you lose the wonder's touch. JADED! Worn thin, tired, and gray, Like a favorite song you've heard a hundred times a day. JADED! Even joyful jobs can wear you down, A clown who used to love to laugh can turn into a frown. JADED! It happens to the best of us somehow, The trick is finding wonder again, right here and now.

At the twelfth party of the week, a small girl hid behind a chair, Too shy to join the other kids out laughing over there. Bonko almost skipped right past her, jaded, moving on, But something made him kneel down low until the fear was gone. He pulled a single flower from behind her tiny ear, No music, no balloons, only a quiet moment, calm and clear. She smiled the smallest smile he'd seen in all his weary years, And Bonko felt a flicker of the magic, past the tears.

He remembered why he chose this job, back when he was new, The wonder in a kid's eyes when a trick they never knew. The crowd, the noise, the cake, meant less than they'd appear, It was about one honest, tiny moment, bright and clear. Jaded never means the magic simply disappeared, It means you have forgotten where to look for what you feared. He started watching closer, one real face within the blur, And found the spark was hiding there, waiting there for her.

Bonko still gets tired, still checks his watch from time to time, Being jaded needs more than any single funny rhyme. But now he looks for one real moment hiding in the noise, One shy kid, one honest laugh, among the wrapping paper and the toys. The job did not get easier, the shoes still pinch his toes, Still, the wonder comes in smaller doses now, and that is how it goes. Sometimes jaded simply means slowing down enough to really see, The magic that was always there, waiting patiently.

Anyone can get worn out from something they once loved, A hobby, or a favorite song, or friendships that once shoved. It does not mean the thing itself has lost its worth or shine, It means you need a fresh, small way to make the wonder mine. Look for one real moment, not the whole entire show, A single honest laugh can help the tired feeling go. Being jaded is not the end, it is only a signal, clear, That it is time to find what made you love it, starting here.

JADED, jaded, a thousand shows behind, But one small honest moment is the magic Bonko finds. [HONK] The show goes on.
