The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

A musical retelling of Aesop's fable about how appearances can be deceiving

Wool so white. Wool so soft. A fleece was hanging in the loft.

Wolf crept in. Wolf pulled it down. Wolf wrapped it up like a woolen gown.

He walked on out to the field at dawn, stumbling, shuffling across the lawn. "Baa," he whispered, "baa," he tried. But a hungry wolf was tucked inside.

Sheep moved over, made him room. No one noticed in the morning gloom.

He grazed beside them, side by side, teeth so sharp he tried to hide.

But one little lamb looked up and said, "Why are your eyes so big and red? Why do your feet have claws, not hooves? Why do you make those growling moves?"

The shepherd heard and turned around, studying shapes against the ground. One "sheep" was prowling, stalking near-- the shepherd grabbed his staff in fear.

He pulled the fleece and there below-- a wolf! A wolf! Now the whole flock knows!

The wolf ran off across the hill, and the flock is safe and standing still. The shepherd said, and this is true: "Look a little deeper at what's in front of you."

Watch what they DO, watch what they DO, watch what they DO, not what they wear. Look a little closer. Look with care.
