The Tortoise and the Hare

A musical retelling of Aesop's fable about a tortoise, a hare, a long nap, and who showed up at the finish line first

Little tortoise on the line, Stretching out his stubby spine. Hare is quick and full of pride, "I'll win easily!" he cried.

Slow and steady, foot by foot, Tortoise tucks his head and puts One leg, then another down -- Watch him plod across the ground!

Hare runs fast, then takes a rest, Yawns and stretches, "I'm the best!" Curls beneath a shady tree -- Naps right through the chickadees.

Slow and steady, foot by foot, Tortoise tucks his head and puts One leg, then another down -- Watch him plod across the ground!

Hare jumps up -- the sun is low -- Tortoise crossed an hour ago. Sitting at the finish line: "Took my time. The cup is mine."

Slow and steady, foot by foot, Tortoise tucks his head and puts One leg, then another down -- Watch him plod across the ground!
