Pancakes from Memory

Picture the steps — one, two, three! (hey!) No book, no Grandma — it's all in ME!

Step one: a snowy hill of FLOUR — plop! in the bowl. Step two: a milky river — splash! in the bowl. Step three: crack an egg — PLINK! — a little yellow eye. Flour, milk, egg — I see 'em flyin' by!

Step four: stir it round, a bubbly goopy pool. (stir-stir!) Step five: pour a puddle — pan goes SSSS! — too cool. Step six: little bubbles pop, POP-POP across the top — when they pop, you know it's time to flip, don't stop!

Spatula swoop, WHOOSH under the edge — flip it fast — don't let it fall off the ledge! FLOP! on the pan, golden as the sun — Step seven: EAT it. Memory, DONE!
