I Can't Do It Yet
A song about growth mindset - learning that we can grow and improve with practice and effort
Mia looked at her bike with the training wheels gone, "I can't ride it!" she said, feeling not very strong. Her dad smiled and said, "Add one word, you'll see— You can't do it YET, but you will, just believe!"
I can't do it YET, but I will learn, With practice and time, it's my turn! I can't do it YET, but watch me grow, My brain gets stronger, now I know!
She wobbled and wiggled, she fell on the ground, Got back on the seat, pushed the pedals around. First one small push, then two, then three, "I'm starting to get it, just wait and see!"
I can't do it YET, but I will learn, With practice and time, it's my turn! I can't do it YET, but watch me grow, My brain gets stronger, now I know!
Every time you try, your brain makes new connections, Like building little bridges in all different directions! Mistakes aren't failures, they help you learn the way, You're getting better every single day!
So when it's hard and you want to quit, Add the word YET — and stick with it! "I can't ride yet. I can't read yet." Each time you try, your brain rewires it!
I can't do it YET (but someday I will!), I can't do it YET (I'm climbing up that hill!), I can't do it YET, but watch me grow, My brain gets stronger, now I know!
