You Can't Choose Everything
A song about opportunity cost - understanding that choosing one thing means not choosing another
SATURDAY! SATURDAY! Mama said, "Pick ONE thing โ quick, use your head! The park with swings? Or the zoo with bears? Ice cream shop? Or the fun-fair squares?"
OH NO! How do I PICK? Park or zoo or ice or bricks? OH NO! I want them ALL! But Saturday's only ONE day, y'all!
Park has swings โ they go SO HIGH! Zoo has bears โ they ROAR and SIGH! Ice cream's COLD and CREAMY-SWEET! Fun-fair has cotton candy โ what a TREAT!
OH NO! How do I PICK? The thing I MISS has a name โ quick! "Opportunity cost" โ that's what it's called โ The thing I don't pick โ left behind, that's all!
Park or zoo? I have to CHOOSE! Whichever I pick, the OTHER I lose! But losing one means winning ONE today โ Next week the park can be my way!
I CHOSE THE ZOO โ and it was GREAT! The bear ate fish! The monkey was late! Park's still standing! Swings still swing! Saturday next โ they're still a thing!
OH NO! How do I PICK? Park or zoo or ice or bricks? The thing I miss has a name today โ Opportunity cost โ it walked away!
