Scab Construction Crew

A silly bouncy song about platelets rushing to a scrape, building a wall, knitting new skin, and waving goodbye when the job is done

UH-OH! A SCRAPE!

I tripped! I scraped! A little red -- A tiny ouchie on my knee! But wait! Look down! What's coming up? A teeny crew is here for me!

Plate-lets! Plate-lets! Coming through! Tiny workers, BIG job to do! Plate-lets! Plate-lets! Hard hats on! SCRAPE patrol -- it's go-time, son!

BUILD! BUILD! BUILD!

They stack themselves up -- BRICK BY BRICK -- Sticky-sticky, stack 'em quick! A little wall of red turns brown -- That's the SCAB! It locked things down!

KNIT! KNIT! KNIT!

Underneath the scabby roof, The skin gets BUSY -- weave-and-loop -- New cells lining up in rows, Knit-knit-knitting toes-to-toes!

Build! Build! Build the wall! Knit! Knit! Knit it small! Build! Build! Build the wall! Soon there won't be ANY hole at ALL!

BUILD! BUILD! BUILD! KNIT! KNIT! KNIT!

(Don't pick! Don't pick! The crew's still working!) (Picking it pulls the wall right down!)

Days go by -- the wall holds tight -- The new skin grows beneath all night -- Pink and fresh and good as new -- The scab's done what it came to do!

And then one morning -- OH-HO! -- The little wall just lets me go --

plop!

It falls right off! No fuss, no muss -- Tiny brown brick on the ground!

Plate-lets! Plate-lets! Job well done! Hard hats off! Knee-crew's spun! Plate-lets! Plate-lets! See you again -- Next bonk, next bump, see you THEN!

(Thanks, crew!)

(Tiny tip of the tiny hard hat.)
